This is the new movie i catch on dvd today.
it is about this kid named xiao guang whose mother had commited suicide and his father has remarried after the death of his mother. He, himself, has not grown any taller since his mother's death. He blamed his father and his stepmother for that.
xiao guang runs away from home regularly after quarrels with stepmother and trys ways and means to irritate and make fun of her. He even started saving up to leave this "unhappy" home. then one day, he was thrown out of the house and he met this old scienitist who has developed a drug that could accelerate the growth of living things. xiao guang stole it bearing the thought that once he grown up, he then could runaway from his family forever, but accidentally broke the test tube and injured himself thus created an opportunity for the drug to enter into his body system. He become an adult overnight.
While he was enjoying his new found identity, he soon discovered the side effects of the drug. It makes him aged at a faster rate and in no time, he become a haggard 80 years old man. He wanted to return to his actual age but the scientist could not help him. The scientist makes him understand that everyone has only one chance to live a life and there is no once again or repeat any part of the life journey again. We are given specific life span on earth. Whatever time u are given on earth, that is the time u planned and get what u want in life. Even to the last day of your life, u will still have to live life to the fullest. It is a waste to spend a lifetime bearing grudges on loved ones and others who have betrayed, mistreated or hurt u . Rather learn to let go and accept the changes in life and make it a better place for u to live in.
xiao guang then reconcilled with his father and stepmother. In the end, he died in the arms of his stepmother. i would consider this a happy ending as although time is short, they did get to forgive and accept one another. Beautiful memories still lived within their hearts. Right?
Andy has the chance to protray the role of 20 years old lad to 80 years old man. In between, he has also captured the different mindset of various stages of our lives successfully.
i particularly like the part about the basketball team. Team spirit do play a part in moral boosting as well as seeking comfort in times of difficulties. That reminds me of colleagues in tt. We have came so far together, although many of us has left tt, we are bonded in spirit we once shared. To some, the spirit still lived within our hearts in whatever form we have chosen to keep it. =) Same goes to those in IJ and ARG.
i did shed tears towards the end. Well, this is kinda normal. i am especially vulnerable when it comes to this. Easily touched on screen but will not shed tears in real life in front of others .
