It took a prank call to spoil my entire day. It happened around 12 plus in the afternoon. I just had my lunch and was reading the new paper in the living room when the phone rang. My mum picked up the call and suddenly she started yelling into the phone asking," who is beating u ?" in cantonese. And she turned to me and told me that my younger bro was beaten up by somebody and was calling for help. She passed the phone to me,,, that person who sounds like my younger brother starting talking to talk the mandarin that he was beaten up and was about to be taken away. Sounds suspicious, i asked him where are u.... he ignored and continued on that he was beaten,,, blah blah,,and that prompt me to ask him who he was. He put down the phone. i could hear that there's someone else voice at the background.. but i could not hear what he is talking about.
i knew my younger bro was not feeling well and was on his way to the clinic. And so happened my mum asked the caller, "aren't u in the clinic?" . The caller could just retort back that he was beaten up after he saw the doctor. That's pretty strange. We know the clinic staff pretty well, the clinic would have inform us if anything have had happened to my younger bro outside the clinic. However, i could not decipher is that voice was my younger brother's coz sounds alike. So mum and i decided to walk to the clinic first and checked it out after we could not get through his mobile phone. However, i had no idea which clinic he visited. Armed with umbrellas, we went down and as we walked, we called the clinic and checked if my bro had went there. Luckily he went to our regular clinic and the staff confirmed that he was standing right in front of her alive with no injuries.
Strange in way that it could be coincident that that guy called wrong number and his family also speaks cantonese. If not, i dunno how to explain what's the purpose of the call. And the best thing is that the caller called from a private line, there's no way we could trace the call unless may be to sought assistance from the police. Maybe i will make a report tomorrow coz this is not the first time we received such calls. But this is the first time for our home phone number. The other time, my mum received such call directed to her handphone number claiming that my dad had stroke and was sent to TTSH.. very critical. ...
damn idot lor... how could people ever thought of scaring a woman with such jokes. What if ,there's truly such events happened and my mum treated matter as prank calls. it would be disastrous. i am utterly pissed off with such people. My day was ruined all because of this.
