Sometimes i wish the computer can understand my frustration. i really feel like whacking the system. i could have repeat my scan in time to make up for the accidental movements of the patient and careless planning to get that pancreas. Stupid lor, the PC chose to hang at that critical moment. In the end, i could only get the PV phase. If only the pc did not stall, sigh..... the patient also not very co operative, never listen to instructions and need to reset the IV plug again. wasted some time.
Another case, the tracking just started the scan suddenly and i could not suspend in time. Then my partner kept telling cannot suspend.... if only i just go ahead and ignore others' comments. i could have gotten what i want for the scan. Damn it,,, well but at least i learnt my lessons and will take note of such details next time.
The biopsy also.... messy ,, but now i know ..... =)

Had another extravasation case on sat. Sigh... this was my second case. My first case was just one week ago. i should start believing in my intuition. For both occassions, i already have the feeling before the case. i should have just ask them to set another plug even though the flow was smooth during the testing. My intuition has always been accurate but i chose not to believe in it.
Well, luckily, this time round the volume injected was not as much as the previous case and the swelling did not appear as bad. Partly because, the party involved differ in sizes. Sigh just hope that i would be more careful next time. Because of that, i need to write the incident report to document the incident. As a result, i missed my driving lesson on sat. =(
i realised that my attention span was low and this is a very big problem for one doing CT. Since one would need to focus on the scans in order not to make a blunder out of it, i need to work on these areas. That is to think fast and accurately. Speed is also another problem. They said i am still new that's why slow... however after one month of working solo in CT, i still have not adapt a suitable workflow. That is from the start of the scans to the end of the scan which involving processing the images to sending the images to PACS to verifying the images in PACS. Where is the ideal workflow? i should be getting somewhere now at this stage.. at least should be able to complete the case from beginning to the end all by myself and not completed partially by another person. Hmmm... am i too impatient?

just had two consecutive days of driving lessons in a row. Next weekend will be the same but i am still wondering if should i proceed with the sat's lesson coz i am afraid that i may not be able to make it on time unless i left punctually at 1230pm. Given the amount of work and think my working partners, not very nice to leave them to complete the cases till 1330pm right. Maybe i just have to do that since officially i'm supposed to go off at 1230pm. Just have to apologise to them then .... .....
i am very tired but just could not rest well. i wasted my weekend sitting in front of the TV and watched drama serials. Hee hee. Although i was trying to sleep this afternoon, i was just tossing and turning trying to get some sleep. Not successful. In the end, got out of bed and started to update some stuff as i dun have the motivation to settle that on weekdays.
well, i should start planning my time well in order to make full use of it. DEvoting the rest of the day updating my list of CT protocols.

Sigh... feel so guilty now over the incident at work. Although they kept saying that it's normal for any new kid on the block to make the mistake, i dun think this could be use as an excuse. i have tried so damn hard and always been very careful with the injection. It just has to be today that ruined my records. Guess this serves as a reminder that i should be very very careful that next time for contrast injection. I think that it's really bad but hopefully no one pursue further... if not think have to answer for that. Anyway, already filed in the incident report. Still cannot forgive myself since i have prevented a few cases previously. But how can i miss today's case.
So damn stressful to work in CT. Everything was completed in very fast pace. I seemed to be falling behind the rest like a snail. sigh.... cannot be too stress up or rush as the more i rushed to complete the case, the more things i will neglect and giving more chances to commit mistakes.... =(

it's my first saturday on duty in CT. Sat was as busy as normal weekday. Every case came in trolley today. The two slices of bread i took for breakfast was digested in no time. hee hee. The IV plug failed me again. i dunno why everytime no matter how hard i clamped and ensured that it was tight, the contrast would leak in the middle of injection. Then had to stop everything in time and start on time so that i could catch the PV phase of the liver. i wasn't sure about the timing for the pelvis coz i could no longer use the timing i set earlier on due to the screwed up. And i was alone. sigh... just try my luck... PV phase a bit late... then the pelvis turned out alright. Boss said can go ,,, phew###.. i still need to work on injection testing skill. must get rid of the fear.....
Mum is back home after the operation and is suffering from severe gastric pain. sigh... luckily toward the evening, i advised her to consume her regular gastric medicine instead of the hospital prescribed one. She finally could eat something without throwing up.

Now i am sitting in front of my pc and listening to Lee hom's concert 2006. He really remix and rearranged his songs for his concert. Too bad dun think he will be having his concert in singapore this year. Sigh ... have to wait longer for him to come. =)
My parents converted the rack for the fishtank into a shelf for me to keep my "rubbish" so i spent the entire nationtal day holiday packing my room. phew!!! but after packing i realised that i have space to buy another guitar hee hee ...
i cut myself again on my left index finger. sigh ......

well, it's my second day going solo in CT. There are still many many things i have yet to master and famaliarise. Since tomorrow is a public holiday, today cases piled up like mad house. The requests kept coming and we were just scanning and scanning. Guess i have yet to get accustomed to such working paces. Still not fast enough. Most of the time, i did the scans and somebody else processed the images for me. i did not really get to do everything like i did yesterday.
i realised that we heard complaints everyday especially from the outpatients. But with us handling the inpatients and A&E cases too, there will always be delay for the outpatients. No doubt they will not be happy that they had to come early for appointment and drink the oral contrast before we could do the scans and some could not go to the toilet for hours. As much as we hoped to reduce their discomfort and them bearing the hungry stomach till the scans are completed. WE could not simply ignore the inpatients and A&E as most of them were urgent cases. So in terms of priority, the inpatients and A&E cases could not wait. Well, i understand that it is a frustrating sight to see us calling in all the inpatients before outpatients, but we could not help it unless they come up with a viable solution to such issues. In terms of speed, there is a minimum amount of time required for one scan depending on the areas. Even for the fastest worker in the department, there are limitations of the machine and other issues which is patient dependent. Guess not everyone will understand the workflow and the nature of the scans. It is not as simple as just pressing the buttons. I have no wish to be a button pusher only.
By the end of the day, i was worn out and fell asleep right after dinner. It's indeed very challenging but it is damn stressed manz ...

Well, our precious friend at home has finally bid us farewell or rather bid the word farewell. He has left us at 5.55am this morning. It was a bit drama this morning when my mum discovered that there was something wrong with him. She just woke me up to take a look at him. His muscles were all tensed up and the body colour turned greyish black at first. After a while, he started to relax but remained almost still. As we could still observed some faint breathing from him, we decided to wake my brothers up from their beauty sleep so that they could take the last look at him. Very drama right ... but right after that, he just passed away peacefully. Sigh.... relieved from all the sufferings and all the injections. We all cried till eyes red red and left for work.
Actually, i sort of prepared myself that he would not last long this time round coz he has lost his usual stubborness. In the past, no matter what , he would insist of catching his food on his own. He just refused to be fed even during the times when he could not swim in upright position. This time, he allowed to be fed by my mum and the bloating stomach was not helping him at all. Just did not expect to be so soon. Mum discarded almost his everything when she came back from work coz everytime she saw the empty tank, she will think of the fish. Even when i came home from work in the evening, i did not see the fish waiting at the door and the fish tank was gone.
The feeling was like losing a family member. Really hate the feeling. Glad i am coping well with that except for a few blunders i made at work.
Will miss him dearly.........
