i guess most of u can gather from the past 3 weeks blog entries that i am definitely stressed at work. ha ha ha .... will try to get out of it fast....

i was pretty blur on sat as i kept putting the wrong films in the wrong patient's folders. Luckily, i double checked before i sent off the films. See... double checking is not always wasting precious time. Of course over doing that may be an indication that i am insecure or not confident in my work.

Had gathering with my fellow RG classmates too. A simple lunch over at pizza hut and then proceed on to NYDC for desserts. We exchanged updates on our progresses so far... glad to hear that everyone is coping well and all the funny mistakes we have made so far. Nothing that results in serious consequences. In the end, left four of us chit-chatting at comfortable sofas in starbucks. i gathered that most of us were busy finding the right pair of shoes for work. All having problems with our legs. Veins were emerging out from the surfaces. Sigh... gals were trying to prevent the ugly varicose veins from developing due to the prolonged standings and walking during work. i was so tired towards the end that i went straight into bed the minute after my bath. hee hee too tired to think and do my budget plan too.

i think i forgot to take a spot film of the last procedure. Oops... hope he dun need it for his report coz got plain film already. (cross my fingers)

Luckily, met CW along the corridor if not i would not know when i am going to leave the place. The charges and checking in of the interventional procedures are different from the rest. No one i asked know how to process that. Forms not processed then he cannot report also.....

They scheduled in a last minute interventional procedure which resulted in me leaving work almost one hour late. No one could cover me coz everyone busy with their respective work. Nevermind ,,, just take the case lor ... coz nothing i can do ,,, and not that i mind staying back. Just that i hate the fact that pple just throw things on you and left you to struggle. Well, true..... that's how we learn things fast that way. And that's how i learn things around.

Hope for a better day tomorrow!!!

i was on solo for fluoroscopy today. Everything went pretty well although i was a bit lost and slow to react. However, i was getting the hand of some procedures which i have handled so far. Tomorrow's list was longer than today. Hopefully, all went well too. Thanks for the help i got hee hee .... And there were two cases handled by our big boss. Kinda of scary but i just pretend that i was going through the routine client tour thingy in my previous job. Not as scary as talking to CS last time coz he will ask me what service level is for the day and all the fte calculations plus have to answer what's wrong with the schedules etc ...... just hope that i processed the images correctly and sent them to pacs for him to report. i am getting a bit paranoid... kept double checking my images and making sure that they all went through to PACs. Guess i developed this habit when i was working as OAC specialist last time. Checked and double and even triple checked to ensure that there was no room for errors.

Another syndrome i have noticed since i started work. i have never left the workplace on time before. Today, i took time to settle the last two cases, processing images. packing and cleaning the examination room. That took me like almost half and hour. Luckily, Bin never wait for me to knock off. If not, she will definitely scream her head off manz... i guess that's my working style... i have never been those finished their work on the dot kinda of worker. i need to make sure that i settle everything that has to be done for the day before i go. Another reason was that i am too accustomed to working late last time so much so that i dunno how to control my time........hee hee. i left an unfinished business today. Tomorrow has to talk to CW and see what great suggestions he have.

u think i am feeling too stressed at work or i did too much portables last week. i kept having dreams at night seeing myself doing portables and x ray projections. But i dun feel the stress except when i was left running the examination room alone in outpatient. Other than that, i was pretty alright, just that i need more practices i supposed. Maybe it was due to the fact that i always force myself to go to bed early at around 11 plus which was considered too early. i was not at all sleepy just that i need to ensure that i have sufficient sleep in order for my brain to function efficiently the next day. Sounds bad right. MQ having sleep disorder... this is sooooo rare!!!

Went up to look at ERCP today. Came down with a headache. Wonder why i always have headache after a long day in Fluro room....... strange... it feels something like what i would get after talking on my mobile phone for a period of time... hmmmm

so depressing to find myself struggling with general xray. Maybe because i have not been practising the techniques often since the last clinical blocks. But speed was terrible. i kept reminding myself that i should focus on getting the correct techniques then followed by collimation then speed up if possible. When i did multiples , i took damn long time to complete one exam and that was only projections of two shoulders and a hand. Kinda of disappointed with my progress though. Maybe things will improve as time goes by.

i have only started work for less than a month.... and i am not looking forward to work.

i have been thinking of what i want in life again. Is this the way i want it or i could have done better than this? i guess it's perfectly normal for person at my age to review my goals in life if i ever have any. i am still not going towards what i want in life. Although at the moment, i am doing something meaningful in my job. i would not say that i enjoyed what i am doing now but i do find some satisfaction in my job. still kinda lost. what could be worse than to feel confused about life? hee hee.

Dun worried..... i am just performing normal QC check on my life....

This was the third cardiac pacing case i got for the week. Am i considered "lucky"? Actually, there was nothing difficult about it. Just that need to be very alert lor. i realised i have got co ordination problem. When i looked into the monitor and tried to shift the table with the tip, i always forgot i should be going to the reversed direction. That is the table should be shifted in the reverse direction of the wire. i always go in same direction...then forever cannot reached destination. Poor doc ... sorry..... Then i realised i am very slow in response. very sad in such cases. Well, this should be considered my first solo case so should have more to practise on. Hopefully, after fluoro and Operation theatres training, things will improve especially with the handling of the C arm. Luckily, he was nice and never screamed at me. My colleague took over when it was time for me to go off work.

Good to add that i finally learned how to manage my time for portables and was able to go on time for lunch. A good try today though.

okie.... i had exciting portable duties. First the trauma portable case which was mentioned earlier, then followed by two days of cardiac pacing procedures (which was considered rare) followed the mandible projection on portable as well.

The mandible portable request was indeed a surprise. Initially, i was informed that there was a pending skull request for portable. Not really expecting obliques though. But i prepared myself with adequate cassettes. luckily, i remember a senior's advice,"tapes are always very handy, must learn how to make use of them."....... hee hee...that solve the portion of maintaining pt's position and cassettes stability too. a lot of rough estimation coz need to modify the technique a bit and the best thing was i dun remember the actual technique.,, so anyhow whack and imagined how the image would be like if positioned this way or that. Luckily, images still passable although not very nice. Everyone was telling me that dun expect nice images for portable... but.. dunno leh.

This morning, i was having my mood swing. Then i went out of the house a bit later than my usual timing, missed the staff bus and reached workplace at about 725am. Feel very pissed off... guess i still prefered to get out of the house early avoiding the morning crowd where i can strolled up the overhead bridge with reduced noise level of the sounds of the shoes hitting the metal floor and vibrations. THen when the two guys were making a fuss (rather just jokingly) over me asking for the wrong pager. dunno why i got even more pissed off and showed some bad temper. hee hee sorry for that ..... i dun mean to but just too noisy for me. pardon me for that outburst.

i just hate to work on my birthday. Things have never turned out right for me on my birthday eversince dunno when. Perharps since the day i understand that it's the day i was born. Sucks manz.... what greeted me early in the morning was a portable multiple trauma case. Working on multiple case on the normal x ray tube was already a tedious task now with portable machine was worse. One of the reasons was this was my first case since i started work. Nevermind.. i thought it was not going to be too bad. After much hassle, managed to complete the cases in about 30 minutes. This was considered too long i guessed and i had to settle the morning round by 9am. Waiting for me was another challenge -Abdominal x ray (portable) too. Luckily, the trauma images turned out fine just need to include another knee. Then the challenge came. The first attempt.. grid cutoff for the erect projection then the supine was centered too low but pelvis was in. But image quality was not very good coz patient was rather big. The second try turned out alright but the phototech used an already exposed cassette for supine projection. In the end had to repeat again. ok... this was fine, coz i should have double checked first since i already have some doubts over the cassette number. Lesson learnt. Next Time...... believe in my intuition and always double checked. So i have to repeat for the two pts. The entire morning, i was just running around these two wards. That's the first boo boo. (skill no good...sigh)

In the afternoon, i went to do another portable. The nurse was supposed to help me lift the pt so that i could place the cassette behind the pt for chest x ray. Normally, two nurses will assist and i just slot in the cassette. However, the nurse thought too highly of me, asking me to lift the pt with her and at the same time slot the cassette. I simply dun have the strength to do so. She then gave me a face like why i cannot do such simple task. Then she ask the other nurse to help saying that radiographer dun have strength. Come on,,,,,, do i look like those strong muscular type. I already have backache like her... and there were so many wires hanging around. I need both hands to slot the cassette in without pulling the tangling tubes. If i could do it.,. i will mostly willingly to do that. sorry i cannot. And it is so much easier to go by the head region rather than the side coz high possibilities of unequal placement then ROI will not be in the centre. This was another big issue on my product. Must try to get ROI in the centre of the film.

Back to the department..... i dun understand why some people cannot take charge of their own cases. He has been working in that damn room for the entire day. i understand that it is difficult for one to remember the wards and which patients they did for the day. Since the case was done today, and people called up and asked. Just kindly entertain enquiry lah. I also dunno if u have done the case already or not.... dun have to tell me not to ask u such questions coz u are not a computer. At least take the initiative to check the pacs and get reply for the pple. It was not that i am not willingly to do that. I could but i just hate the attitude u gave me. At least, teach me how to check lor. i could just do that for u. Anyway, thanks for giving me a chance to trouble shoot so i can get round things next time. Just cannot stand such attitudes. What is responsibility? it does not end after u completed the case okie.

Having off on my birthday was to avoid add ons unhappiness on this day. Everyone says birthday should be happy but... i seldom have happy birthdays..... sad to say that. However, i do have all the blessings from my friends on this day via phones, sms etc etc. Thanks for those who remembers and that added some warmth to this terrible "today" (",)

sigh.... today need to go into day surgery to do plain films for an operation. then i realised that i dun have strength to manipulate the portable tube.... someone else has to do that for me ... sigh again,, dunno how i handle alone. Went for portable alone today... now then i realise,, it is really easier with the help of the phototechnician and faster. Maybe it was due to lack of practise ... hee hee ...hopefully the coming week will be better.

No matter how hard i try to steer clear of getting involved in office politics . i seemed to be pulled into the whirlpool out of my accord. became one of the pawns.. sianz .,.. i just want to spend 3 peaceful years in there ,, that's all i want to do ... can i?

Last day of the CARE program which means have to work tomorrow. Now i understand why the seniors always tell students to take breaks when we still can. Coz when we actually start work, there is really no time for us to take a break and have a kit kat. Everyday, walked around the entire day blessed sometimes with a bit of breathing spaces. And after work, all u think of is to eat dinner and bath then get into the bed and rest for the night so that can fight another "battle" the next day. How exciting right!!!!!

After dinner, i got a shock of my life. I discovered a hole on one of my tooth. The particula tooth is already problematic coz the other time i cracked it when i accidentally chewed on a chicken bone. My precious teeth are all very brittle due to poor genetic traits. Sigh.... the worse is that the dentist was fully booked for this entire week... the earliest date is next wednesday. Oh my..... i decide to try my luck tomorrow after work to check if he can squeeze some time out to fix my tooth.

Well, it just occured to me that i have to get used to the fact that my saturdays are no longer always available for me to run errands and perform any misc tasks especially now that i have to work on saturdays. When i worked on sat like today, i was very very worn out after work although i did not do much today. Patients were mainly from inpatients and all required modified views which i still have a problem doing modification techniques to the standard projections. Hopefully, i could pick things up fast and accurate. Right now, think i need to check my eyesight...... for the entire week, i had problems centering the images.. they were either too left or too right.. mostly too much on the left side but luckily ROI are in so no need to do repeats for most of the films. WHY?????? someone mentioned maybe my perception of the middle sagittal plane is wrong. But i checked and checked, that damn MSP is centered. ERghhhh .. yucks manz.. anyway did some boo boo things today too. i admit that i was very far from alert this morning. It's been a long time since i worked on sat. ha ha ha .... these are just excuses. Next week will be on portable,,,, good luck to me!!!!

Went down Great World city for sushi in the evening. As all the tables along the sushi counter was occupied, we were directed to the table at the corner. My dear mum has problem identifying the type of sushi and insisted to sit along the sushi counter. i tried to explain to her that it's the same, we could place orders and had the same sushi at the counter. Since she was pretty adamant by it, so we decided to wait for counter seats. hee hee we waited for a good 15 minutes for the two bar counter seats. ......... wonder why. But had a good dinner.

Actually, my right knee aches pretty badly today. And one of the reasons is probably due to my shoes. My boots seems to be comfortable enough during clinical but when it comes to actual work, it's not giving me the support i need. As a result, i need a new pair of shoes before i wear out my right knee and ankle again. Saw one pair of shoes that i fancy in Hush Puppies. Leather rogue-looking design... hee hee and it is on sale too. i never bought it coz not sure if they were the ones i need.. and plus not much budget for it since i need another pair of track shoes. Good pair of shoes are very important especially when we need to move around and stand for very long hours. Think my muscles will be developing soon after a few weeks pushing the portable and OT ii machines .. (",)

Commencement of work tomorrow!!! Guess what none of my brothers will be working tomorrow not even my dad. Sucks!!! only i have to get up early and join in the rest of the crowd to get to workplace on time. These few nights, i have been trying to turn in early so that i can get in tune to the work pace again. One month of loathing at home has not done me any good. Slept really late and woke up pretty late too in the morning as well. This is going to be bad.

Caught the programme, The Royal Variety Performance, shown in the afternoon over on channel 5. Long time never watched such shows on TV. I remembered last time, they used to feature such programmes over at art central on Mondays Nights. It's different watching european variety shows compared to US productions. i have always enjoyed the english production more than the states'. i prefer their style of performances for some of the traditional performances. Of course, the pop music scenes are kind of similar in both continents. Even their christmas performances are different. i still prefer seeing choirs singing traditional christmas carols in old churches and the ambiences just fit the occasions. These are often featured in UK rather than States. i think in singapore, i had only attended a christmas performance in chapel once. And that's in the Chijmes. Nice place and experience. New year has just passed by and it is still a long way to go till the arrival of the next christmas.

Why am i talking about christmas in the beginning of the year. Can't wait to get another year older? That's crazy. Maybe i am just starting to count down when i will complete my bond with my hospital and get out of this place fast ha ha ha ... how sad right. Here am i barely starting my new career and is already looking forward for a change of environment. That's not the right attitude , GAl!!! Wake up your ideal lah!!! (as someone will always say to me when i started to drift too far from reality) Hee hee (",)
