Sigh.... of all days, my personal pc has to be down at the very end of year 2006. It seems that the DC power supply has fused and my bro has ran some tests on the cpu in attempt to revive the system. He could not derive any results from the test as well. So the only thing i could do now is to send the cpu back to the shop which helped me to diy it the other time. i really hope my data in my harddisk are intact. (keeping my fingers crossed)

Now, just using my elder bro's pc for the time being. However, i dun really dare to venture some of my daily internet surfing for fear if kenna some virus or worms in his system.. he is going to make the hell of noise out of it. Damn it ..... what a way to start the new year.

Time to review on what i have or have not accomplished in Year 2006.

  1. Started working as a full time radiographer in Feb 2006 and with a streak of luck, i was trained in CT for about 5 months now. I loved my job although there are many uncontrollable factors due to the nature as well as the environment of the job. Get along well with most of my counterparts at work. That's fine so far and hoped the coming year will be better or at least maintained as it was in terms of working relationship.
2. Failed my first attempt for driving license. Will try again next year and hopefully i succeed this time round.

3. Still put my music lessons on hold due to the driving lessons coz i dun have the time to practice especially when my work took up most of my time as well as too physically drained after work to do other things. Hopefully, i could get something started next year.

4. Still not active in my religion group... hee hee i know the reasons why but will try to fulfill that issue in the coming year.

5. Pending for the milan trip next year. hee hee

It seems like not much accomplished this year. i do agree to a certain extent that i have wasted some precious time, in fact lots of the time, i was just working and working and sleeping and sleeping letting the time flew past doing nothing. well, guess i have to make more effort in my time management skills. However, sometimes u just dun want to do anything but just bum around doing nothing.

i shall end my entry here... Happy new year everyone.

Merry Christmas, Everyone!!!

Yesterday, i had a quiet silent night for christmas eve. Well, there's really no where to go and i dun feel like going out giving my condition for the day. Hee Hee. How i spent my christmas eve, in front of my television watching the most popular korean drama "Princess Hours". And i managed to complete the entire serial. Kinda disappointed with the last episode as the korean language mode was not functioning properly as a result i had to make do with the mandarin version. Damn sad coz i preferred the korean conversation as the translation in mandarin was not as expressive as the korean. In the end, i watched the last episode again online coz i cannot tolerate the mandarin translation. It's a happy ending after all the tears and sorrow.

After watching the show, it did trigger something at the back of my mind. Something that i have left untouched for a long long long time. However, i still dun want to touch on that yet coz of uncertainity and lack of confidence. Since i am leading a rather peaceful life now, just leave it as that. talking about leaving my comfort zone. Yes i can be very decisive when it comes to career which allows to me to challenge myself to leave my comfort zone. However, i still could not convince myself to get out of my comfort zone in terms of relationship. Over the years, my trust and confidence in relationship was still zero, to the point that i dun want to be involve in any. For those who are always worried about me, when am i going start look for that special someone or accept someone, i am sad to say that i dun have the answer myself. Though sometimes i felt very lonely especially when most of my friends have already started their own families, i dun have habit of asking my friends out often. This loneliness did not expel me out of my comfort zone. Instead i am getting more and more accustomed to this loneliness. Although i think this is getting a bit unhealthy, i think i could still manage. (",)

i think my mum will be very happy to hear that i am down with sorethroat. If you are wondering why, that's because i am supposed to help out in some volunteer activities organised by some of my friends tomorrow. However, with my sorethroat, i think i have to give the event a miss as the subjects involved have weak immune system. Just as she wished that i fell sick and could not attend.

Sometimes, i wondered why she was so against the idea of me being an volunteer. She always commented that i am so stupid to be made use by others and always tell me that your own family members also need attention and assistance... why not spend your time and money on the family. She kept harping on the fact that i am still sponsoring a child with world vision. She did not see the point of it.... and everytime when i mentioned something about volunteer ... she would start her lecture with regard to me being stupid and too soft hearted blah blah.... Her question will always be "is it compulsory ? is it organised by your company?" Her reaction worsen when she found out that it is neither. And there she goes again nagging nagging over the issue again. I dun see what's wrong with offering my help to the less fortunate in the society. Although i am not considered well to do, i have sufficient to spend, eat and the most important point is that i am healthy. It is absolutely fine to help out others. i just dun see her point of view over this issue.

So what if i like to be a busybody?

Just came across an interesting about vaccine preventable illnesses such as mumps, Rubella etc. All these illnesses which i believed those who are born in singapore would have received a dose or more of the vaccines since young to assist our bodies to develop antibodies against the viruses. According to the article, there seem to have an increasing number of mumps cases occuring in the western countries. I am not so sure what are the figures for the asia region though. So that brings us to the point again. Does vaccines really help to prevent virus attack?

The latest vaccine launched in singapore is for cervix cancer. The age group between 9 years old to 29 years old (or is it 26 years old, cannot remmeber, please go and check it out) would be advised to go for the vaccine. And it was said to be 100 percent prevention. Is this really true? Micro organisms and changes in the genetic makeup of cells evolved at a rapid rate, could be even faster than we could ever imagine. i dun accept the fact that there's a 100 percent foolproof prevention to any diseases. Virus and bacteria are too "smart" and adaptive to mutate into something else and in the process creating another new disease all together. It's kinda sad as we human beings here trying to find ways and means to lengthen our time on earth, the technology improves but at the same time, we are introducing many opportunities for our tiny little "enemies" a platform to become more deadly and fatal to us human beings. That's also why i always admire the microbes and virus , they always amazed me with their strong will for survival and also to accustom to environment at god's know speed. Yes !!!! They were scary but we could not show a sign of fear because our mood would directly affect the patient who would be too anxious waiting for the results these days. Dun u all agree?

Just recovered from gastric pain cum viral flu, and with these two days MC , i left 9 days of MCs for the year. Hee hee ,,,, i dun intend to fall sick anymore. Hopefully, i could maintain this standard. It has been a long while since my last gastric attack. This was more unbearable as i could not even stand upright. This was bad and i had to make my way to the clinic all by myself. That's also let me ponder on who will be the one accompanying me to visit the doctor when i was old and frail.

Today is such a tiring day. We were still scanning our last listed patient at 7 plus in the evening. By right, the oncall person could continue the scans and the rest of the company could retire for the day. But i dun feel good leaving behind the scans that spilled over after six. So i helped out till we completed our day's list before leaving the workplace. Poor partner, he still have to stay back for the on call cases.

Again, the matter of trust came into the picture. Maybe because i am considered new, so the things or suggestions i contribute did not command any respect. i was just suggesting the same method to work through some matter as my senior, that person just dun trust what i said. So damn annoying coz if u dun trust me ,, then dun ask for my opinion and later go and bother some pple who is currently on vacation. =P

What should we do if we received any negative feedback?

When i looked back how i react when i first learn about the issue, i am pretty surprised. Hee hee at the way i react. Of course, it does make a difference when you have already known before hand that there will be a complaint coming in the day before. i was pretty amazed by the "constructive" feedback. Totally admired one's skill of twisting and turning the events which happened during the scan. i wondered how a person standing outside examination room could see what's happening inside the scanning room behind closed door. How on earth did she ever know that we ignore her relative's discomfort and that we did not give him the oxygen to help to ease his breathlessness? What they wrote in the feedback letter is so damn ridiculous!

The fact that she claimed that she already informed the staff that she wants to cancel the scan, but the form was still placed in the queue. She claimed that the patient was already unwell when we wheeled him in for the scan. He was sent down in wheelchair and without oxygen tank, this goes to show that he is in stable condition. His health condition, i would expect him to have a bit difficulty in breathing. Once the staff informed that he was breathless, we tried our best to expedite the case asap. He could not lay flat at first, we provide him oxygen to ease the situation. Once he acknowledged that he could lay down for the scan, we quickly complete the scan in the shortest possible time. There was shouting in the room because he kept moving and we could not scan unless he remain still to reduce motion artefacts. THen he complained of being too cold, we covered him with extra blanket and lowered the temperature. Please CT room is always cold, because we need to cool down the machine if not we could not scan so many patients a day.

Sigh, so difficult to satisfy customer needs. Maybe we did not address his needs probably. Maybe we should review our efficiency level. What's the definition of efficiency? How to provide excellent customer service and at the same time not compromise efficiency? That brings me back to my previous job. During training, i always stressed that within the allocated proposed talk time, there is sufficient time to provide good customer services. But when i started working this time round, i have been exploring on how to apply such theory into my workflow. Somehow the nature of the job is different. The customers in both cases have some similarities. Handling time of each customer is different. For the easy ones, of course less time is required. Customers from icu will required longer duration due to the excessive equipments and drips involved in transfering and positioning for the procedures. Guess we have always been trying to improve customer experience with the hospital. But are we reviewing at the correct area? Something to ponder about for the night.

i went for a haircut today. It seems like my hair length is getting shorter and shorter subsequently. Well, it's not my intention for that. But now my hairstyle resemble my primary school or early secondary school style. Really nerdy looking. Kinda regret not to instruct my hairdresser to keep the previous style. However, there is not much room left for her to retain the same design. So i guess i just have to bear with it for a couple of weeks before i could restyle the hair again to the desire look. That's the problem with having short length hair. After a few cuts, especially when you are layering your hair, it's getter thinner and thiner and after that one will have to let it grow back again before another rounds of layering could take place. Sigh.... But many says i look better with my short crop.... i still miss my long hair sometimes especially when occasions which require me to wear skirts or dress.

Went to Vivo city with my mum today. The place was flooded with people. i like the safari pet shop at the top level.

Now everyone at home is involved in my younger bro's big project of making cushion cover for his chairs. Oh my,,,,, i never knew i could sew so well. Sometimes i wonder does age has to do with the skill. When i was younger, i dun think that i would have the patience to sit down and slowly sew the pieces together. It's kinda reflecting that either my EQ has improved or i am getting old...... Hopefully all will go well for his coming project and hope that i will get my annual leave in feb and april too... crossing my fingers and pray hard.
