Dunno why my luck was so bad recently. First all the injuries i have sustained from work, then the possiblility of getting osteoporosis and now i am losing my hair.
i went for a haircut yesterday and the hairdresser told me to go and consult the dermatologist for my hair condition. She has discovered 3 50 cents coin bald cicular patches on my head. There was no hair growth or rather with minimum hair growth within the bald areas. The first thing comes to my mind was could it be ringworm?... After consulting the doc, he said that mine is not ringworm but an autoimmune disorder known as Alopecia Areata.
From the information gathered over the internet, bald patches will appear suddenly. Damn it , why are my antibodies attacking its own counterpart. Something just altered my genetic make up and my t cells and lymphocytes cannot recognise them anymore.... that's my own hair follicles lor. I have read that severe cases will be those who have lost all of their hairs including the eyebrows and eyelashes as well as body hair. And they have to live with such appearances at a even younger age than me. This is so devastating. The doc told me that it is seldom associates with other autoimmune disorder and normally occur to healthy individuals. If occur under 30 years old, this is most probably due to genetic issues as in it runs in the family. Not that i know of.... Cortisteriods were injected on the bald patches,,, pretty painful but bearable. There is no cure for the condition ,,,, i just need to wait for the moment my immune system is able to recognise my hair follicle cells. Hopefully, 6 weeks later i will see hair growth on the affected region as well as no new sites pops out. Doc says mine is the mutlisite case ,, may be difficult to control,,,, sigh.... why must this be happening to me....
i was wondering if the highlighting of my hair has anything associate with such condition. My first attempt and may result in such terrible situation due to sensitive scalp. Or is it my new shampoo.. i just changed to the new one and has been using it for the past 4 months. i decided to change my shampoo to a more organic agent ,, less chemicals acting on the scalp. my mum was blaming radiation for the culprit.. everyone asking me to quit this job ..... sigh,,,,,
My mum was like your hair has always been very healthy and nice ... ya ,,, but dunno why they must take away my precious hair... i remembered last time i dun even allow anyone to touch my hair. Now i have to prepare myself emotionally for the worse outcome of the disorder and also prepare others for the drastic changes in my appearance if things dun go well. From bad to even worse appearance .... oh my god..... shall keep praying and chanting for recovery.
