Sometimes, you really cannot help but believe in fate.
Mum was just on her way back from grandma's place and met this group of senior citizens having their cantonese opera singing sessions at one of the void deck. The instruments they were playing happened to be Er hu. As my bro has problem with his, mum took his er hu and asked the old grandpa what's wrong with the instrument. Well, the problem lies on the waxing of the bow. There's nothing wrong with the instrument. My mum loves to listen to cantonese opera, so she was captivated by the songs and forgot to inform us that she would be there for quite sometime. My dad got worried so i decided to go downstair to look for her.
Then it opened a chance for me to learn some new things from the uncles and aunties. They even offered to teach me how to play the instrument if i am interested. Music bonding does not have any age limits. Besides, i do have an interest in chinese instruments and is just thinking of some ways to gain some knowledge on that. And this opportunity came by, hee hee ,,,
I was doing night shift and we spent the night chatting on various topic from music to politics to science and history. Having such a partner for shift is such a joy. Besides, gaining valuable knowledge from him, i also have a better understanding of his culture. He was so knowledgeable and he really proved to me that it's not wasted to spend time on reading or studying courses and areas outside our bread and butter. This is what i called an all rounder lor . i felt so small or rather ashamed when he knows my country even better than me. Must buck up and start building my knowledge base rather than being ignorant and dun understand the world around me. (",)
